10 Days & 9 Nights

 

 

A nine night/ten day tour visiting the historical sites in the north central regions, Kandy, the Central highlands where tea is grown, the game sanctuary in the South East of the country and two nights at a beach resort on the South West Coast.

 

Day 01

 

Arrival. Will be met at Colombo Airport and transferred to Cinnamon Grand/Taj Samudra. After a short rest proceed on a city tour of Colombo. See the Pettah Bazaar, the Fort area, a city park and a residential area in Colombo. Dinner and overnight stay at a standard/deluxe/luxury boutique hotel.

 

Day 02

 

After breakfast proceed to Sigiriya, visit the Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawala en route. After a short rest, explore the rock fortress of Kasyapa’s Palace on the summit of the Sigiriya rock and the gallery of ancient frescoes. Dinner and overnight stay at a standard/deluxe/luxury boutique hotel.

 

Day 03

 

After breakfast proceed on an excursion to the medieval capital Polonnaruwa, which was the 2nd capital of Sri Lanka, built in the 11th and 12th Centuries A.D. Tour the ancient city visiting the council hall, Shiva Devale, Watadage, rock inscriptions of Nissankamalla and the Gal Vihare amongst other interest in sites. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at a standard/deluxe/luxury boutique hotel.


Day 04

 

After breakfast proceed to Kandy visiting the Dambulla Caves (1st Century B.C.) en route. Next, a garden of spices will be visited to view and sample a wide array of spices. Continue to Kandy, visiting a house of batik painters. En route in the evening witness a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing. Dinner and overnight stay at a standard/deluxe/luxury boutique hotel.


Day 05

 

After breakfast proceed on a city tour of Kandy, which is nestled snugly amidst hills. During the city tour visit the Kandy Bazaar, the arts and crafts centre, the lake, a gem house/lapidary, the Temple of the Tooth Relic and the Peradeniya Botanical gardens, which were originally the pleasure gardens of royalty. Nearly 4000 species of plants are found here and the longest river in Sri Lanka, the Mahaweli, encircles the gardens. Return to standard/deluxe/luxury boutique hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

 

Day 06

 

After breakfast proceed to Nuwara Eliya, visiting a tea estate and tea factory en route. This region is world famous for the production of high quality tea. In the afternoon explore the town of Nuwara Eliya , the Golf course, the former racecourse and also the Nuwara Eliya lake. Dinner and overnight stay at a standard/deluxe/boutique hotel.

 

Day 07

 

After breakfast proceed to Hambantota via Ella, Wellawaya and tour the Yala/Udawalawe National Wildlife Sanctuary en route. This is famous for large herds of wild elephants and deer, crocodiles, wild buffaloes, peacocks, and a large variety of bird life. On completion of the safari continue to a standard/deluxe/luxury boutique hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

 

Day 08

 

After breakfast precede to Kalutara/Bentota, visiting Galle, the chief port during the Dutch regime en route. Dinner and overnight stay at a standard/deluxe/luxury boutique hotel.

 

Day 09

 

At leisure at a standard/deluxe/luxury boutique hotel on half board basis.

 

Day 10

 

After breakfast departure transfer to the airport.
